- "Mary McDade ... married ... H.G.W. Cloud, son of Jeremiah & Elizabeth Cloud,
formerly of South Carolina. ("Youngblood-Armstrong & Allied Families" by Youngblood & Bonner, p. 301).
- The McDade family they traveled with & married into were from near Spartanburg.
- Jeremiah appears to have married when he was 15 or 16 (ca 1799-1800).
- Their first children were born in Georgia.
- They were in Alabama by 1816 and the rest of their children were born there.
- The family came to Texas in 1837 and settled in Austin's Colony near the county seat in Bellville.
